Attorney Emily Benson is board certified by the State Bar of Nevada as a Certified Family Law Specialist. Ms. Benson is one of only 20 certified family law specialists in the State of Nevada and became the first woman to successfully pass the application and examination process. Ms. Benson is also the youngest certified family law specialist in the State. 

What does being board certified mean?

The Board Certification process for Family law requires the applicant to meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum number of years in practice.
  • Attorney must have represented clients in a minimum amount of contested cases involving a wide variety of issues.
  • Attorney must obtain referrals of competence from practicing Judges.
  • Attorney must obtain referrals of competence from other attorneys that have been opposing parties.
  • Attorney must pass a written exam that has a less than 50% pass rate.  

 As you can see, when retaining a board certified specialist you know you are getting an attorney both experienced and competent in their field.
